halloween blog

The guy in the video that we watched today had a very funny Swedish accent. He taught us about the growth of different nations over 400 years. H teaches global health and is working on animating data. He showed us a chart,  at the bottom of the chart was people that were poor and sick with a low life expectancy. At the top of the chart was people that were rich and healthy. Most of the developing countries are in the bottom of the chart. In 1810 the life expectancy was below 40. The UK was the first group of people to be able to produce products in a mass quantity.

population pyramids

~ Russia and Nigeria have about the same population even though Russia is much bigger ~ Nigeria's population is growing and Russia's population is falling ~ on population pyramid, men are on the left women are on the left ~ youngest at the bottom/oldest on top ~ data is recorded in 5 year increments 3 different groups: 1. pre-productive age (0-14) 2. reproductive age (15-44) 3. post reproductive age (45-death)

reviewed test

Today in class, we went over the test. I did worse than I thought. I got a 89%. I was hoping that I would do better so that it would bring up my grade before the end of the quarter. My grade is a 88.54%. The part of the test that made my grade go down the most was the vocab section. I don't know why I got all of the words confused. I got confused net migration rate and rate of natural increase. I also got GPD per capita wrong. The other question that I got wrong was the question that asked whose net migration rate is highest. I put Mexico and the answer was Canada. I also got one the bonus questions right.

test day

Today in class we had a test. I didn't study very much last night because of the amount of other homework that I had but I studied in my off mod and during advisory. I think that the test was pretty easy even though I didn't study very much. The one thing that got me stuck was the push and pull forces. I put four different countries that I knew were good examples but I couldn't remember examples of push and pull forces. I don't think that this will bring my grade down by much but I don't think that I got a 100%. I need this grade to be good because I have a 88.39% in this class and I want to bring it up to an A before the quarter ends next week. I don't know if I will be able to do this but I have been doing my blogs every night so that I know I get a 100% on all of those assignments. These blogs are easy points and might bring my grade up to an A but if it doesn't I will only have two B's and the rest of my grades are A's.

test tomorrow

Today in class we reviewed for our test tomorrow. This test is on everything that we have learned about population and settlement. We have been working on this for a while so I think that the test might be a lot but I don't think that it will be that hard. Some things that will be on a test will be population of the world right now, where the population is growing throughout the world, the vocabulary that we have been learning, the years that we hit billions and the years elapsed between, life expectancy, math to find the rate of natural increase, two push and two pull forces with examples of countries and the reasons for the push and pull force. I have made a quizlet for this test so that it will be able to study. I already put the years that we hit billion, vocabulary, and push and pull forces. This means that I need to add examples of countries with push and pull forces, the population of the world right now, where the population is growing, the years elapsed between the yea...

review day

today in class we reviewed all of the questions that we answered in our last blog from the CIA fact book. some of the answers were really surprising and made me think about how good our economy is. almost 1/4 of the population doesn't have access to electricity. also there are may children that don't make it past the age of one because of drug addiction. we also have a test on Friday that will cover everything that we have learned for the past two weeks. I know that I will have to study for this because I know that there will be a lot of numbers and I have trouble remembering numbers. I can make a quizlet to help me study.
