test day

Today in class we had a test. I didn't study very much last night because of the amount of other homework that I had but I studied in my off mod and during advisory. I think that the test was pretty easy even though I didn't study very much. The one thing that got me stuck was the push and pull forces. I put four different countries that I knew were good examples but I couldn't remember examples of push and pull forces. I don't think that this will bring my grade down by much but I don't think that I got a 100%.

I need this grade to be good because I have a 88.39% in this class and I want to bring it up to an A before the quarter ends next week. I don't know if I will be able to do this but I have been doing my blogs every night so that I know I get a 100% on all of those assignments. These blogs are easy points and might bring my grade up to an A but if it doesn't I will only have two B's and the rest of my grades are A's.

Mercator Maps vs. Peter's World Maps

Today in class we researched the difference between a Mercator map and a Peter's world map. A Mercator map is a map that is typically used for navigation charts because the lines on the map enables a navigator to plot a straight line course. It was introduced in 1569 by Gerardus Mercator. It was used since then and is in most classrooms today. A Peter's World Map is a map that maps all areas so that they have the correct sizes relative to each other, also called an equal- area projection. It distorts most shapes because of the distance accuracy, which is why a lot of the states or continents look as if they are stretched out. The map was introduced by James Gall and Arno Peters and named after the two men. A Peter's World Map is the more accurate than a Mercator map.

last day before break

Today in class we got our tests on world religion back. We had fifteen minutes in the beginning of class to do whatever we wanted while Naseem took the test. While we had this time, I looked at decorations for my brothers surprise party. After Naseem finished the test and got his graded, we got our tests. I got a 76% on the test. This is not as good as I thought that I would do but I still have a 90% overall. As long as I keep doing my blogs and make sure that I do well on the next few things that we do in class, my grade should go up some. I wrote the answers to the questions on the test on the left side of the paper so that I can study with the test for exams. I will ask myself the question and cover the answer on the left side and then reveal the answers so that I can quiz myself and be ready for every part of the exam.

test review

Today in class we went over our test that we took on Monday. I got a 70 percent. Our average score as a class was a 75 percent. Even though we got to use our notes, the honors classes got a higher average than our class. On the test, the section that I got the most wrong was identifying absolute location and relative location. I only got two right on these questions. Mr. Schick told us to write the answers to all of the answers on the side of the paper. This gives us a good way to study for the final that is later in the year.
