test day!

Today we had a test. I think that I did pretty well on it. I knew most of the answers to the questions but there were about 5-7 that I had to guess on. I think that not knowing the answer to 5-7 questions is good because the test was 32 questions long. I hope that I do well on this test because I want to bring my grade up from the grade that I have because of my presentation on Germany. I now have a 93.42% in Human Geo. I think that I will get about a 95% on this test. That might bring my grade down a little but hopefully not too much.

Something that I found difficult on the test was some of the wording of the questions. I didn't understand some of the words used and how to answer the question because I didn't understand what the question was asking. I also thought that the population pyramid section was hard. I had no idea which of the countries listed was the one on the population pyramid. I don't think that I got the United States population pyramid correct because after the test, I looked up the U.S. population and I do not remember seeing that number on the test. I remember that on the test it said something like 336,000. The population of the United States is 327.2 million.

test review

Today in class we went over our test that we took on Monday. I got a 70 percent. Our average score as a class was a 75 percent. Even though we got to use our notes, the honors classes got a higher average than our class. On the test, the section that I got the most wrong was identifying absolute location and relative location. I only got two right on these questions. Mr. Schick told us to write the answers to all of the answers on the side of the paper. This gives us a good way to study for the final that is later in the year.

Guns, Germs and Steel Day 2

Today in class we watched a video about Guns, Germs and Steel. We talked about what all great civilizations have in common. These three things are advanced technology, large population, and a well organized work force. We also learned the definition of pre history. Pre history is 13,000 years ago when civilization relied on hunting and gathering. Papua New Guinea is one of the only places that you can go to and still find people hunting and gathering. In Papua New Guinea, they used a specific tree to get food. Inside of this tree is sago. This is the food that New Guineans get from the tree. It is often turned into a dough and eaten.

Today in class we learned some new words that relate to the ancient Greeks. agora~  is a public open space used for assemblies and markets. polis~  is a city state in Ancient Greece, especially as considered in its ideal form for philosophical purposes. importance of the year 508 BC~ In 508 BC democracy is introduced in Athens.
