Time Zones

Today in class we learned about time zones. A time zone is a region of the globe that observes a uniform standard time for legal, commercial and social purposes. They tend to border around countries because it makes it easier for commercial purposes. Each time zone is 15 degrees. UTC or Coordinated Universal Time is the primary time by which the wold regulates clocks and time. GMT or Greenwich Mean Time is often used as a synonym for UTC. GMT is from about 300 years before UTC. Daylight Savings Time is when we adjust the clocks an hour forward. It starts on November 3 at 2 am. Some people want to abolish daylight savings time because the use for it is no longer around.
